July 4 – Brazos Nights: Fourth on the Brazos – Nothing goes better with some good ol’ H-E-B FIREWORKS than some rock n roll. Austin’s most-loved tribute bands, LC ROCKS, comes to Waco to headline the annual FOURTH ON THE BRAZOS. LC Rocks specializes in the hits of the 1970s, and 1980s. More than 15,000 people make this event one of Waco’s grandest traditions. Great food, family fun and awesome fireworks over the Brazos! The concerts are held next to the historic Suspension Bridge, and people of all ages enjoy this festival-like atmosphere with food, beverages and vendors booths. Cost: Free. Time: 7 PM – 11 PM. Location: Mclane Stadium, 1001 S M.L.K. Jr. Blvd. Free parking will be available at McLane Stadium Lot B and C (with handicap parking in Lot D), the Ferrell Center and Heritage Square in Downtown Waco. July 4 – Historic Ghost Walk Down Austin Ave – Mclennan County Paranormal Investigations are partnering with the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, Batteries Plus and Bulbs, and the Affordable Sign Guys to bring to Waco the first ever Historic Ghost Walk down Austin Ave! Participants must be at lest 12 years of age, and minors must be accompanied by the parents or guardians. Tour groups can be no larger than 15 people so if you miss the first one there will be another about 45 minutes to an hour after the group leaves. We will meet at Ninfa’s Mexican Restaurant downtown and proceed to City Hall where we will start the tour. It will be about 2 1/2 hours long as we will proceed up Austin Ave to 8th street and back down the alleys to our starting point so wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Be sure to bring your cameras and voice recorders if you have them to document any findings you may catch! We will be covering the history, legends and lore, complete with pictures at each location, from the late 1800’s to the devastating tornado of 1953 along with tales of spirits and ghosts.
